If androids dream of electric sheep than I wonder what the realdolls (life-size, anatomically correct sex dolls) featured in Guys and Dolls (Channel 5, 18/09/06) fantasized about? Probably not Unicorns!
The documentary interviewed various owners who used the highly realistic life-size dolls for sexual satisfaction, dates, affection and even lifelong partnership. There was an American who gave his latex partner daily massages, an English hang-gliding enthusiast who took his synthetic friend to watch him practise his hobby and a another American who had eight of the things. The last guy was clearly bonkers! He had a real girlfriend and invited her round to his place on his birthday where she was greeted by the eight artificial lovers wearing party hats. I think she finished with him about a week after the event.
“So currently I’m living with my parents. I think there’s definitely a sense of disappointment for them. My father…well, he sees it as, y’know, ‘unnatural’. I think the thing my father finds difficult about my relationship with Sidore-Chan is that she’s, not, like, alive.
“As a result, Sidore-Chan spends 99% of her time in my room. It used to be like sex, sex, sex, sex…but now that’s tapered off and we’re just, like, there for each other.”
There was also a visit to a “doll doctor” who allowed cameras to film him carrying out repairs. I’m not going to tell you what the repairs were because it’s just too icky.
After watching the program “Guys and Dolls” I could only conclude that these people were for the most part sad individuals. In the great scheme of things I suppose sha***ng a lifesize doll is pretty tame. However I don’t think I would be advertising the fact on national television.
Personally, I don’t think there is anything wrong with what these guys are doing. Lets face it I bet most men have thought about what it would be like. Have you ever been given the Joke blow up sheep and actually taken it to the loos and popped it up the ar** – it’s quite nice, no need to buy it a drink or tell her she looks lovely.
At least they are not killing people!
I would say that there are definitely some ‘issues’ for the men that were shown. I must confess I found the guy from Virginia the most worrying with his guns!! and Im with Rufus in that Im not sure about the wisdom of having gone on camera to talk about it. I watched it despite myself, it was compulsive viewing, like a grown up Doctor Who, I was behind a cushion for a lot of it!
Thanks for commenting.
That guy with the guns was pretty scary, particularly, when he was playing around with them and the sword. The others mostly just seemed lonely and could probably done with some help with self-esteem and commication issues.
please show again! i missed the programme and like everyone is talking about it at work! when can we see it again desperate taluah
I probably looked at this programme in a very different way from most viewers. I am a fan of such shows as South Park and Wonder Showzen, therefore you can conclude that I have a pretty warped sense of humour. I thought Guys and Dolls was hilarious. I laughed my ass off for the whole hour. It was so surreal. It was like a Monty Python sketch on acid. The guy with the sword and the hang glider were hilarious and spooky in the same breath (which I think makes great humour). I’d love to watch it again. On a serious note I can understand how screwing a doll, without the usual neurotic crap a woman throws at you, is appealing (don’t think I am being mysoginistic, women have used dildos and said the same about men for years. I think men have just as much right to use sex toys and have opinions on the opposite sex). On the other hand I did feel sad for the guys that formed an emotional attachment to the dolls. But that’s life, crazy and messed up so laugh at it rather than getting hung up about it.
Personaly i think it is a perfectly natural thing, i myself have 3 doll’s they make me happy so whats the problem?
I like it when I don’t clean mine for weeks. I love the aroma!!!
