I was joking last week when I wrote: “And finally a little plug for next week’s Heat Magazine, in it you can read an exclusive interview with Pete about why he’s dumped Nikki!”
But z-list celebrity life being stranger than fiction, Pete Bennett has finished with Nikki Grahame and there was an exclusive interview with him about it in Heat Magazine (23/09/06)!
So what happened? Well, Pete basically realised that they just weren’t compatible and that he doesn’t like the way she behaves.
…Nikki is high-maintenance and she was so rude to my friends. I found that really difficult to deal with…
Princess Nikki Grahame being Princess Nikki Grahame, there were plenty of arguments, tantrums and rudeness. There was an argument after their appearance on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross.
She’s exactly the same she is on Princess Nikki, and that’s hard work for a boyfriend. Things hadn’t been great anyway, and Nikki was annoyed about some of the things I said on the Jonathan Ross show. I couldn’t even remember what I’d said, but she wasn’t happy and she was going on at me. I was with my mum and my brother Alex and I just wanted to have a drink at the bar, so Nikki told me she was going home. But when I got back to my hotel, she was there in my bed! I was shocked because I thought she’d gone home. She told me I should be happy she was there waiting! She was shouting for about four hours about how bad a boyfriend I was and how I didn’t pay her enough attention. But I really did try to give here the attention she needed. I tried to give her a hug in bed, but in the end I slept on the floor. I woke the next morning to find Nikki telling my mum how I made her feel like she didn’t exist. I just thought, “Bollocks, I can’t handle this.”
Then there was rudeness.
One time, we went down to Brighton so she could meet my friends, but her behaviour made me feel so embarrassed. We went to my mate’s parents’ house and she said it smelt like Battersea Dogs Home. She was so rude and it really hurt them. They’re my friends and she was saying the place smelt of “doggy-woggies” and spraying perfume everywhere.
And more rudeness and tantrums.
Another time, I went out for a curry with Nikki and her sister, and when the food arrived she started to complain. There was a bit of food with fat on it and she said to the waiter, “Urgh, take it away, please just take it away.” The whole restaurant was looking at us and I was embarrassed. I just thought, “If you don’t like it, don’t eat it. You don’t need to cause a scene.” The more she behaved like that, the more it put me off her. I would tell her to stop being rude, but she wouldn’t
And even more rudeness and tantrums.
When we were in a taxi on the way to Heat magazine’s shoot, the driver went a slighty odd odd way and she started having a go. I told her that we’d get there, but as far as she was concerned we were concerned we were going the wrong way and she wasn’t happy. Even in Princess Nikki, I can’t believe how unkind she is to people. How can you be that rude and call people’s hotels hovels?
Oh, and a little bit of arrogance for good measure.
[Nikki] wants the red carpet treatment. I realised that when we were at a party; when she was asked to help clear up, she said, “Have you ever seen an A-list celebrity working?” and refused to doing anything.
(I think I must have missed the memo that said “A” had become the last letter of the alphabet.)
After all this, Pete used the classic “Let’s just be friends” line and finished with Nikki by phone. Class! Mind you given that Nikki has had raging hissy fits about bottled water, mp3 players not working and not getting her own way, I don’t really blame him.
[Nikki] texted me at first, saying, “Hello, baby, how are you doing? Miss you.” Then she called me at about 10pm. I was really down anyway… and I felt really low about myself… I knew that the time was right and that it wouldn’t be fair to continue, but it was scary and I didn’t know how she’d react. I was worried I’d upset her. But, to be honest, I didn’t want to do it face-to-face, because I didn’t know how she’d be – when I’m with her, I’m quite weak. I told her I thought it would be better to be just friends. We said we’d speak next week. That was it.”
Pete Bennett also revealed in the interview that they didn’t have a very passionate relationship. He said Nikki “was never really interested, whereas my sex drive is very high. If I ever tried it on, she would have to finish her make-up or be looking her best.”
He confirmed that he’s split with his old band Daddy Fantastic and is now working with Guy Chambers. Oh, and he has a book coming out apparently! (I must remember to put it on my Amazon wishlist!)

i thought pete and nikki was a fantastic couple and cherry isnt the right girl for him i loved it when nikki went back in the bb house and they ended up all loved up i thought to my self when they split up just what happend they should be together.pete dump cherrry and get back with nikki thats who u should be with

I agree with foxy to a certain degree I think that he could well see how nikki was before their “love” affair started in the house. I’m with Jessie too, although I do think people from different lifestyles can often work well together… I like the lad, but felt in the house he was manipulative and ran away from confrontation, which sometimes he was the cause/catalyst of.
However going back to foxy, that exit from the house was totally not real. I have not seen such farce and slapstick since the heigh days of Norman Wisdom, who I may say, was more believable falling down stairs.
And as for the emotional blackmail of his dream/vision, repeated over and over again toward the final, to the nation. He knew what he was doing.
All in all I think as characters he and nikki were well suited, as the only difference between them is she shouts for what she wants to get and he uses stealth.
Oh but I always felt he is gay – still think so, but that would tie in with it all anyhow….

this sums up my feeling towards pete.one example that sums it up for me now looking back was pete’s attitude towards ash’s indigination over mikey spirals admiration of her backside.
pete listened to her did the politically correct respones to her went to the dr to make the right noises for the benefit of the gbp then imo showed his true feelings on final night just as ash was aboyt to leave by saying she has ar@e to die for .to me i believe it was another example showing howmuch he was consciously playing the game throughout .

i completely support Pete’s decision i understand how it feels to be with someone who treats you like your a door mat and treats your friends like they are dirty.
if your not happy then your not happy and the best way to deal with that is eliminate the problem.
lets face it (Nikki) is No princess by all means a princess acts with respect not like a spoilt little brat who makes out the world is a terrible place to be!… (life is what you make it nikki)
You want someone with your own interests someone to support you and respect you oh most of all LOVE YOU the same way you love them….
so if Pete is happy with cherry so be it and all the best..
its not my place to judge people but lets face it Nikki was horrible on and off cam complaining all the time etc etc etc if her housemates complained about her and her boyfriend at the time then doesnt that say something???
maybe he felt pressured into talking to OK mag or maybe he felt he wanted to get his point and side of things across other wise he would have been made out to be the big bad bear…
