Phone line sleaze seems to have spread all the way to Blue Peter.
Last November the children’s television show ran a competition involving a premium rate phone line, with a portion of each 10p call going to UNICEF. The winner was supposed to be chosen from the kids that phoned in but because of “technical problems” none of the little nippers could get through. So they picked a passing child who was visiting the studio, pushed him towards the nearest phone and got the little mite to masquerade as a caller to the studio and then claim his prize for a correct answer.
The BBC wasn’t making any money from the phone line but still I am shocked and appalled by this state of affairs. No, really, I am. It’s Blue Peter for Heaven’s sake, is nothing sacred? What next? Konnie Huq selling Blue Peter badges out of the back of a van?
