Big Brother 9: Late Night Shopping

Food, drink and a pantomime horse…

The BB Housemates get excited about some fresh meat

The housemates only had a measly £77 budget for this week’s shopping budget. Rather than buying basic necessities Rex ordered just tea, coffee, milk, sugar, four normal tokens and one packet of custard creams; blowing the rest of the cash on 57 Big Brother Ever Changing Special Prize Tokens.

After keeping the housemates waiting until almost eight o’clock, Big Brother let them know that Rex’s secret gamble had paid off; they received 56 Special Prizes which included ham, spam, jam, babysham, a pram and a record token for a song by Wham, as well as custard powder, talcum powder, milk powder, egg powder and clam chowder. There were also two envelopes containing special vouchers and a photo of suspect number six, the girl Lisa Appleton and Luke Marsden incorrectly identified as Rex’s girlfriend in Tuesday’s task.

The housemates were overjoyed to see such wonders as a whole lamb (dead and skinned, mind you), salmon, exotic fruits and baby octopus, as well as a pantomime horse outfit, obviously. Kat, whose eyes looked like they were about to pop right out of her head, could only murmur “unbelievable” as she gazed at the treats.

No Rex appeal for suspect number six

However, Rex was less than impressed when he was shown the photo of the girl Luke and Lisa picked as his girlfriend. Tossing the photo to the ground, he spat, “My girlfriend is at least 50 times better looking than that girl!” Luke looked rather terrified at his reaction, whispering to Lisa, “We’ve made a big mistake. I honestly think he wants to punch me.” I don’t think it helped that Lisa and Luke had described her as a bit common looking.
