A pan, a comb, perhaps a cat.

There’s a post about Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ wedding over at Keris Stainton’s blog which includes the Scientologist’s wedding vows which apparently includes the question: “Now, Tom, girls need clothes, and food and tender happiness and frills. A pan, a comb, perhaps a cat. All caprice, if you will. But still they need them. Do you then provide? Do you?”.

Important News from the US

Some important news from the US, Pop star Britney Spears has filed for divorce from husband Kevin Federline citing “irreconcilable differences“. I wonder if that makes Britney a Fed-Ex?

And almost as important, there were some midterm elections there too. The Democrats gained twenty seven seats in The House of Congress giving them overall control plus five seats in the Senate (with two independants, they have overall control there as well) and six governorships. Hurrah, probably! And the best news is that Donald Rumsfield, the person most responsible for the fiasco in Iraq, has resigned.

So will anything change? Well, I think Donald Rumsfeld summed it up best.

“Reports that say that something hasn’t happened are always interesting to me, because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns — the ones we don’t know we don’t know.”

Pete Bennett dumps Nikki Grahame

I was joking last week when I wrote: “And finally a little plug for next week’s Heat Magazine, in it you can read an exclusive interview with Pete about why he’s dumped Nikki!”

But z-list celebrity life being stranger than fiction, Pete Bennett has finished with Nikki Grahame and there was an exclusive interview with him about it in Heat Magazine (23/09/06)!

McCartney vs McCartney

It’s a very sad world we live in when Sir Paul McCartney and his wife (Heather Mills) are facing divorce and all anyone seems to want to do is make jokes about her false leg. Personally, I think it’s prosthetic.

Pants!

The big pants worn by Renee Zellweger in her role in “Bridget Jones’s Diary” which prompted the comment, “Hello, mummy!” from Hugh Grant, are to be auctioned off at a charity dinner for Britain’s Royal Parks Foundation this week.

The organizers hope the dinner will raise $185,000 for the Royal Parks, which provided the setting for scenes in the second film in the series, ”Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason.” One scene in the movie took place in a fountain at Kensington Gardens whilst another was shot at Regent’s Park.

Bridget Jones Big Pants

Renee Zellweger will probably be glad to part with the unflattering underwear.

Renée once revealed she is now so terrified of airport security guards handling her intimates, she sends them home by courier.

She said: “They always choose to go through my stuff. They check out my phone book and then all my clothes. But I can’t bear the idea of them checking out my smalls in front of me.”

Given, the articles and photos going round the blog-o-web about Lindsay Lohan at the moment perhaps she ought to put in a bid for them.

Suri Cruise

There’s been a lot of speculation on the blog-o-web about Suri Cruise. Some people have commented that she doesn’t look like either Tom Cruise or Katie Holmes and others have said that she maybe adopted. Well, if she’s not their child then whose child is she? Well, through extensive examination of the Vanity Fair cover pixel by pixel and even more extensive research which involved … uhm … extensively watching The Boys from Brazil, I think I’ve worked it out! Look closely at the image and you may be able to see it too. Chilling!

Banksy vs Paris Hilton

Banksy punks Paris Hilton

Naughty guerilla artist Banksy has been taking copies of Paris Hilton’s new CD from record shops and replacing them with his own doctored version. The replacement CDs feature a defaced sleeve and  remixes with titles such as Why am I Famous?, What Have I Done? and What Am I For? About five hundred copies of the CD have been randomly placed in forty two shops across the UK!

So far no one has returned one!

Zinedine Zidane: Je ne regrette rien!

Here’s the video of the Zinedine Zidane interview where he discusses the headbutt against Marco Materazzi. (There’s also a transcript below).

He doesn’t mention exactly what was said only that Materazzi repeatedly made insults directed at Zinedine’s mother and sister! That’s pretty disgraceful behaviour from Materazzi so I think FIFA should punish him as well. Best thing to do would be to disqualify both the French and Italian teams and give the World Cup to England! (Well, it’s the only way our lot are ever going to win!)

Interviewer: You know the Italian players well because you played in Italy for five years. Did you have any problem with any of them beforehand?

Zinedine Zidane: Not at all. You always have friction with certain players…that is the game, it has always been like that. But I never had any clashes with anyone.

Interviewer: Nor Materazzi?

Zinedine Zidane: No, never. There was nothing beforehand and nothing in the match until he started pulling my jersey.

He grabbed my shirt and I told him to stop. I told him if he wanted I’d swap it with him at the end of the match.

That is when he said some very hard words, which were harder than gestures. He repeated them several times. It all happened very quickly and he spoke about things which hurt me deep down.

Interviewer: Everyone wants to know exactly what he said…

Zinedine Zidane: They were very serious things, very personal things.

Interviewer: About your mother and your sister?

Zinedine Zidane: Yes. They were very hard words. You hear them once and you try to move away.

But then you hear them twice, and then a third time… I am a man and some words are harder to hear than actions. I would rather have taken a blow to the face than hear that.

Interviewer: He said these things about your mother and sister two or three times?

Zinedine Zidane: Yes. I reacted and of course it is not a gesture you should do. I must say that strongly.

It was seen by two or three billion people watching on television and millions and millions of children.

It was an inexcusable gesture and to them, and the people in education whose job it is to show children what they should and shouldn’t do, I want to apologise.

Interviewer: You apologise to them but do you really regret having done it?

Zinedine Zidane: I can’t regret it because if I do it would be like admitting that he was right to say all that. And above all, it was not right.

We always talk about the reaction, and inevitably it must be punished. But if there is no provocation, there is no reaction.

First of all you have to say there is provocation, and the guilty one is the one who does the provoking. The response is to always punish the reaction, but if I react, something has happened.

Do you imagine that in a World Cup final like that, with just 10 minutes to go to the end of my career, I am going to do something like that because it gives me pleasure?

Interviewer: No of course not. But at the moment you exploded…

Zinedine Zidane: There was provocation, and it was very serious, that is all. My action was inexcusable but you have to punish the real culprit, and the real culprit is the one who provoked it. Voila.

World Cup: Zinedine Zidane

I watched the World Cup Final tonight. I thought France played a better game than Italy but after Zinedine Zidane’s disgraceful headbutt, I’m glad Italy won!
